The V8 sounds lower as there are less firings per second, and therefore less waves of sound coming out of the exhaust, despite the higher revs. I think it is a great shame, and am going to miss the days of the absolute screaming wall of sound at Copse Corner when the lights go out. Sounds like a load of Dysons, or a lawnmower race.

Awesome sound!!! the car actually sounds ,more what can i say, aggressive and rugged. I cant wait for 22 cars crashing down the start-finish straight at the races of 2006

By the way, the early Ferrari V-12 clip (which includes the voice of Phil Hill as narrator) was included as part of an LP released in conjunction with the movie "Grand Prix." Thus, the recording is likely 1966, and certainly no later than 1967.

Regardless, it's wonderful stuff!!

Well, if (and I say if) that's a V-8 it's certainly nothing like any I've ever heard. Of course it's a flat-crank design, so at lower revs is apt to sound rather like a Cosworth or other similar engine. However, it may be the far higher revs I'm assuming the new 2.4's will make which is accounting for the difference.

Thank you for this clip, and I hope you're able to offer more as time passes.

Appreciate your site!

Well, it's certainly different. It has a deeper 'grunt' about it, hard to explain...
I expected the sound would be higher pitched, since the V8s are going to rev higher than the current V10s. Maybe they will; I'm sure they're going to cram out some more revs out of that block before Sepang.
As Nood said, an onboard would be very helpful.

wtf? its different, I'll give it that...takes some getting used to
doesnt sound like a dumptruck but more of a V10 misfiring or something
very different from what I saw/heard on the engine test bank...

Cant wait to see/hear an onboard

Wow, this is the first time I've heard the new V8 as well but I'm positively surprised!
I like it a lot, perhaps even better than the present V10's. Dunno, it sounds a bit... rougher?
